With help from your friendly, local agent

Gulgong’s star in the hot Aussie property market has risen in the past five years, and one local real estate operator gets a kick out of helping movers’ dreams come true.

Raine and Horne Gulgong Principal Nic Stearman said it’s the small things about her trade that she finds delight in.

“Sometimes we have tenants come in who might be suffering from things in their lives, and we help them get into a house... that’s always a good part of what we do,” she said. “And when you're helping people buy and sell, it’s exciting. Nic started out at the Gulgong Raine and Horne some 30 years back as a 15-year old schoolgirl doing work experience, and has worked there on and off between having a family, as well as from moving in and out of the area.

After buying the Gulgong office back in 2015 she now runs a tiptop ship, and enjoys the many laughs along the way with her team of gal pals Janette, Maddison, and Olivia. Janette said being a reliable real estate agent is an important part of her work ethic.

“These days, it can be hard to find an agent you can truly rely on and trust,” she said. “I believe in giving people a fair go, and getting results our clients can be proud of - by being honest, hard working and keeping it real.”

And Nic keeps it real as she gives her honest appraisal of Gulgong.

“It’s very community minded here, sounds silly but when you go into a coffee shop, they know your name, they know what you want,” Nic said. “It’s a beautiful countryside, we can step out of our office, and look down the hill and see the weather rolling in, you're very much a part of the environment as well, so that’s really lovely.”

But in terms of the nitty gritty of running a business, Nic said being your own boss is not always easy. “I have that sense of independence, and being your own boss there is a certain amount of flexibility, but responsibility and flexibility are not always in equal ratio, it’s hard work,” she said. “But you can get a lot of rewards out of it, and I enjoy working with the women I work with.”

So, if you're keen to have a crack at real estate in the Gulgong, Coolah, Dunedoo or Mudgee area, or just want a place to call home, you know who to turn to.
